From British folks, articles, etc I often see the plural, when no such distinction is made. It seems to me just to be the British style with collective nouns. Real Madrid have one the World Cup. For example I want to write "this is a very popular book" 这是一个很受欢迎的书 这那么受书欢迎了 Or if I try to be more "on-topic", I will try this: "this is a very popular book by basketball players": 这书那么受篮球运动员欢迎了 The players who share that number must race to grab the stick and get back to their places without being tagged by the opposing player.
